Inverkeithing Community Big Band is a Fife and Edinburgh based group of amature musicans who meet once a week to play a wide repertoire of jazz and big band music including Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton, Maynard Fergusson and much much more.
Started in 1998 with lottery funding, and with the aim of being open to all abilities, we are an inclusive group. Nevertheless, we work hard to play to the best standard we can and continually expand your repertoire and musical expertise.
The band typically performs at half a dozen gigs a year in the Fife and Edinburgh area, and occasionally further afield. We have performed at birthday parties, wedding anniversaries, numerous charity events and perform regularly at Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Fife Jazz festival. To date we have helped local groups and charities to raise in the region of £25,000.
We also regularly collaborate with local musicians – be they guest conductors, soloists, arrangers or singers – drawing from Scotland’s rich jazz scene to offer our members the best opportunities to play and learn.
